"There is one word of advice and caution to be given to those intending to visit Alaska for pleasure. If you are old, go by all means. But if you are young, wait. The scenery of Alaska is much grander than anything else of the kind in the world and it is not well to dull one's capacity for enjoyment by seeing the finest first." - National Geographic Society President Henry Garnett (A member of the 1899 Harriman Expedition to Alaska).

This halibut was caught in Ketchikan, Alaska, at Salmon Falls Resort, the finest (and largest) Fishing Resort in Southeast Alaska. Bottom dwellers, the underside of these fish is white while the topside is brown, to blend in with the sea bottom. The eyes on these fish are both located very close to each other on the topside of the fish. As some locals might say, "that's a lot of 'Butt'!" Halibut is often the fish used when making 'Fish & Chips', a popular dish of deep fried fish with a side of fries.
