in Mendenhall Glacier Valley Juneau, Alaska
My home and private indoor aviary are located in Juneau, Alaska's Mendenhall Valley, just a few miles from the immense Mendenhall Glacier. I live about halfway between the airport and the glacier - shown in above photo by Alex Viteri, Jr., taken from a COASTAL helicopter above the Juneau Airport area. Juneau is located in the panhandle of Southeast Alaska within the Tongass National Forest, which is a rain forest. Yes, a rain forest in Alaska. This area is warmed by the Japanese current and usually has mild winters and warm (but often rainy) summers. Despite the fact we live so close to a glacier, we enjoy up to 80+ temps on sunny, summer days...and we never run out of ice.
ALL the photographs of birds shown on this website are of our pet and breeder birds and their offspring they have produced... ...some have been sold since photographing. It takes a great deal of planning, time and expense to build & maintain an aviary and website, and to photograph my birds.Copyright notice: Pictures and text on these web pages are copyrighted.
